no obstacles

no obstacles

I would like to promote Heroku a bit here.  I was able to troubleshoot myself out of the problem via the import export functionality. I got to experience first hand the rescue powers of the yaml_db plugin , which has made  managing the test db a cinch. I got to recover the ability to code from anywhere any place.

I’m really impressed with what a difference it makes. Like going to broadband from modem speeds.  Better than tivo/dvr.  Accessibility, turns out to be a big deal to me.  Being able to switch on work mode from any workstation with no setup required (.. well firefox )  is really really cool. I’m going to keep on repeating myself.

Of course the IDE is for the adventurous, but all in all the experience is worth it rough as it is right now. If you are comfortable with TextMate, RoRed, Scite, etc you’ll be in your pond with Heroku.

I appreciate Heroku being on the Rails Way bandwagon, it makes the platform feel natural and understandable.

working with a beta sometimes bites.

So, it turns out that routing on a cloud may be a bit complicated.  I’m crossing my fingers on the hope that these guys will get to it soon.

I have really enjoyed developing on a web based IDE. not only deploying is easy, but it really makes going back to the code really easy.

The basic editors are not that much of a hassle compared to the well thought out application environment. I got used to navigating around, much like i did with RoRed or the basic command line + explorer.

Now that whow is down i’ve spent far too much overhead getting it runnig locally. To discover that Postgres does run on Vista (with some effort) but that the ruby adapter doesn’t was a huge pain.

Good ole sqlite will do for now, but i hope Heroku comes through.  I miss it already!

..

So , I finally looked at the blog again…

hows they say that now… LOL !!! I’ve been with my nose stuck to the grinder so long i didnt see any of these.
